I think I met George’s cousin Virginia one time. She was pushing mascara instead of laundry soap and painting pretty pictures of pink Cadillacs. Gotta love a dreamer! Lol

I had a friend who’s a “career” bartender. He started bartending before he was even 21, and I don’t think he’s ever had another job. He works 3-4 shifts a week, has fun all night long, and makes a shit-ton of money doing what he loves. He earns more in 2 days than I make all week. He was able to take time off of work for health issues without losing his job, and he never lost any hours during the recession. Meanwhile, I’m up to my eyeballs in student loan debt and I’ve been laid off 3 times in the past year.

These people never saw a service industry employee older than 29 or something? What’s the big deal? Must be a regional thing. You should move to Las Vegas, you’ll be treated like a celebrity out here. It’s true, we actually celebrate our bartenders out here. You would have to bite the bullet and let yourself be called the “M” word though This is the pretentious West Coast. Why would we celebrate passe bartenders when there are MIXOLOGISTS to celebrate? I always want to respond with “I do this because I make twice as much hourly than you do, work four days a week, and sleep in every single day.” And 9-5 jobs always felt like prison to me.
